Villa torrigiani - Camigliano (Lucca)

A journey into the heart of Tuscan Baroque elegance

Nestled in the tranquil hills of Camigliano, just outside Lucca, Villa Torrigiani is one of the most breathtaking and theatrical noble residences in Tuscany. With its vibrant baroque façade, grand gardens, and fully furnished interiors, the villa offers a rich, immersive experience of aristocratic life from the 17th century to today.
As you enter through the main gate, you’re immediately struck by the villa’s ornate baroque façade—a stunning display of colors, columns, stuccoes, and frescoes. The transformation was commissioned in the 1600s by Nicolao Santini, ambassador of the Republic of Lucca to the court of Louis XIV, drawing inspiration from Versailles.
Step inside and discover a treasure trove of aristocratic charm: frescoed salons, gilded stuccoes, and original tapestries, terracotta floors and antique furnishings, a private chapel with 17th-century paintings and altarpiece. Each room tells a story—of ambassadors, noblewomen, lavish banquets, and centuries of family tradition.
Exiting to the rear garden, you enter a world of symmetry and theatricality. The Italian garden is a masterpiece of clipped hedges, classical statues, and water features designed to impress: fountains and optical illusions, mythological statues amid geometric flowerbeds. A perfectly symmetrical layout that guides your gaze back to the villa
Continue your visit into a more intimate space: the secret garden, with leafy tunnels, hidden fountains, and peaceful nooks.
Further on lies the Romantic Park, added in the 19th century, where nature is freer and more evocative: Winding paths among oaks, cedars, and exotic plants, A serene pond with water lilies
A poetic, contemplative atmosphere—ideal for a leisurely stroll
A hidden corner holds one of the villa’s most charming features: the Grotto of Neptune, a whimsical garden structure adorned with stonework, shells, and mysterious water mechanisms.
